As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hospital Networks, Rick O'Connell provides executive leadership and direction in the operations of all Ministry Organizations to ensure safe high quality health care delivery and services that meet each communities needs. He forges strong relationships with physicians and associates of every level. He addresses concerns with compassion and knowledge to help achieve positive outcomes to complex issues.

Rick recognizes and appreciates the diversity of challenges of each market Trinity Health serves. As health care enters a new age of reform, he is focusing his efforts on improving performance, patient safety and growth initiatives.

Throughout Rick's 35-year career, Rick has worked in operations with executive level management in both the corporate and hospital arena. His career experience includes President and CEO of the 522-bed Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs. His other CEO positions have included Lucerne Medical Center in Orlando, Fla., and Columbia Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla., Pembroke Pines Hospital in Florida, and COO/CFO of the Miami Heart Institute, the Miami Beach Community Hospital and Doctors Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

Rick is a champion of community involvement, having sat on many local boards. His efforts were recognized in 2004 when he was named "Business Citizen of the Year" by the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce.
